Island Overview
South Caicos is located just 40 miles southeast of the island of Providenciales. At just 8.3 square miles it is one of the smallest islands in the Turks & Caicos archipelago. The island is accessible by South Caicos International airport's 6,000-foot runway with full customs services, or through Cockburn Harbour, one of only three Ports of Entry into Turks & Caicos.
South Caicos is home to approximately nine hundred residents. The primary industry is fishing, including lobster and conch. In addition, boutique outfitters provide access to some of the most spectacular bonefishing and diving in the world. South Caicos is also home to Massachusetts-based School for Field Studies.
Existing island infrastructure includes electricity, cable television, telephone and wireless communications. In addition, there is one bank, several small grocery stores, service stations and local bars and restaurants. The island is a British oversees territory and the currency is the U.S. Dollar.
